SAMARINDA - EAST BORNEO FANTASTIC
CULTURE AND RIVER TRIP WITH FRESH DOLPHIN
It is located in the east of Kalimantan / Borneo most popular with major
activities of the river tourism movement specially in exploring the Dayak tribe.
The east Kalimantan or Borneo is nowadays know as the most industrially advanced
province of Kalimantan. Its population is less than two million, and the density
figure of seven people per kilometre is among the lowest of Indonesia, although
relatively high for Kalimantan. More than 80 percent of the area, or over 17
million hectares is covered by forest. This is where the "Black Orchid" and many
other orchid varieties grow within the sheltered confines of nature reserves.
The Banjarese and Kutainese are mostly the coastal population, living in towns
and cities. The Dayak peoples form the overwhelming majority of the population
of the hinterland, who live in longhouses called umaq daru.
Samarinda - Samarinda is known for its fine sarong cloth. The city shows some
signs of being the capital of a prosperous province. New government offices and
public buildings are rising everywhere. Samarinda has a number of modest but
comfortable hotels.
Balikpapan - Balikpapan, the centre of Kalimantan's oil industry is also the
gateway to East Kalimantan with air and sea connections to Jakarta and other
major points in Indonesia. Even the trip to Samarinda, begins in Balikpapan.
Living up to its importance, Balikpapan has a number of good hotels, including
one of international standard, as well as recreation facilities. It has the
second busiest airport in the nation after Jakarta, due to its strategic
position.
Tenggarong - Tenggarong, up the Mahakam river from Samarinda, is the capital of
the Kutai regency and was once the seat of the Kutai sultanate. The Sultan's
palace on the riverside is now a museum where the old royal paraphernalia are
kept, as well as an excellent collection of antique Chinese ceramics. Dayak
statues can be admired in the yard. A curious thing about the royal
paraphernalia is that they display a strong resemblance with Java's court
traditions.

DAY 01. BALIKPAPAN – LOAJANAN – MAHAKAM RIVER.
Upon arrival at Sepinggan airport of Balikpapan meeting services and proceed to
house boat for mahakam river cruise . Meals and overnight on boat.
DAY 02. MUARA MUNTAI – MANCONG – TANJUNG ISUY.
Breakfast on boat then visiting wooden village to observe the way of the people
life and continue by canoe over lake jempang and beautiful of Ohong river on
high water to reach Mancong village. On arrival welcome ceremony will be
performed by Dayak Banuaq tribe in front of long house and then return to
Tanjung Isuy. Meals and overnight at Long house.
DAY 03. TANJUNG ISUY – MINTA VILLAGE – MELAK.
Breakfast at Long house then return to house boat and cruise up for Melak. Stop
will be done at Minta village for observing the people making palm sugar . Meals
and overnight on boat.
DAY 04. MELAK – EHENG – KERSIK LUWAY.
Breakfast on boat then half day excursion by car for visiting old communal long
house at Eheng village and then to natural black orchid forest and then return
to house boat down river fr Lekak Kidau. Meals and overnight on boat.
DAY 05 : LEKAK KIDAU – TENGGARONG – LOAJANAN
After breakfast on boat then sight seeing the way of life of Kenyah then down to
Tenggarong for sight seeing the Royal Collection of the Kutai Kingdom at Museum,
It’s the former palace of the Kutai kingdom then proceeding to Loajanan for
having the last lunch service then Transfer hotel.Breakfast and Lunch on boat
dinner at restaurant overnight at hotel.
DAY 06/. HOTEL – AIRPORT.
Breakfast at hotel then transfer to the airport for your next destination

DAY 01 : AIRPORT - LOAJANAN - MAHAKAM RIVER.
Upon arrival at sepinggan airport of Balikpapan meeting service and direct
trasfer to Loajanan for boarding the house boat for exciting Mahakam river.
Meals and overnight on boat.
DAY 02 : MUARA MUNTAI - MANCONG
Breakfast on boat then visiting the people life at wooden village and continue
the trip bu motorized canoe over jempang lake and passing Ohong river for
beautiful panoramic and observing proboscis monkeys. On arrival welcome ceremony
willbe performed by dayak Benuaq trip in front of their long ear and tatoos.
Afterward return to the house boat and cruise for long iram. Lunch box, dinner
and overnight on boat.
DAY 03 : LONG IRAM - RUKUN DAMAI
Brekfast on boat in the morning arrive at Long Iram then continue the trip to
Rukun Damai by boat and water favourable. Stop will be made at Dtah Bilang for
visiting the beautiful house carving and observe the way of the people life
Dayak Kenyah which known well with their long ear and tatoos. Afterward up
Mahakam for Rukun Damai. Arrive in the late evening. Meals and overnight on boat
on long house.
DAY 04 : RUKUN DAMAI - LONG BAGUN
Breakfast on boat or long house then observing the people life of Dayak kenyah
and Punan at Rukun Damai and Long Merah. It's good apportunity for enjoy Dayak
dances in the village then return to the boat or long baot down river for Long
Bagun. Meals and overnight on boat.
DAY 05 : LONG BAGUN - KAYAKKING - TIONG OHANG.
Breakfast at yout guest house then fullfday Kayakking to rapid of Mahakam which
most strongest rapid area from monteneous overnight at by Tent. Meals provided.
DAY 06. TIONG OHANG TREKK- LONG BAGUN.
Breakfast at tent then halfday trekking to the jungle with local people of dayak
bahaau and kenyah the afternoon set up tent for overnight . Meals provided.
DAY 07. LONG BAUN - LONG IRAM - MELAK.
Breakfast at tent then down river for Long Iram to get boat and down river for
Melak. Meals provided overnight on boat.
DAY 08 : MELAK - BENUNG - TREK - KERSIK LUWAY
Breakfast on baot then fullfay excursion by jeep the visiting the old communal
long at Benuaq village, and you may have opppurtunity for jungle trekking to
observe the huge trees, then return to Kersik Luway for black orchid forest and
back to the baot. Down river for Tengggarong. Lunch box, dinner overnight on
boat.
DAY 09 : TENGGARONG - LOAJANAN - BALIKPAPAN - HOTEL
Breakfast on the baot then visiting Museum and Royal cemetery of Kutai
kartanegara Kindom, then back to the boat down river to Loajanan and proceed to
Balikpapan for your hotel. Lunch on boat dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 10 : HOTEL - AIRPORT
Breakfast at hotel and morning free until to transfer to the airport for next
destination.
