Trip to Komodo and Moyo National Marine Park –
6 full days diving, 18 dives
Day 1: Depart Gili Trawangan at 6pm for overnight sailing to Moyo Island National Marine Park. Arrive early morning ready for first day of relaxing diving on a unique reef
system.
Day 2: Moyo and Satonda Island. Dive Haji Reef and Panjan Barat Moyo, two easy dives to warm up then off to Satonda Harbour, home to the Indian ocean walkman, Cuttlefish, Nudibranch and Pipefish – its macro heaven! A quick visit to the volcanic lake followed by a sunset dinner watching the thousands of bats leave the island in search of food. 7pm Departure for Sangeang Island.
Day 3: Sangeang and Banta Islands. Arrive early morning for a dive on Sangeang's "Black Magic” due to its black sand and minerals. Bumpheads, rays and tuna can often be seen in the blue! Then to Banta Island to dive on Banta Wall. Regarded as one of the best coral walls, it drops down to 60 m and attracts many big fish and pelagic.Including grey sharks, manta, marble rays and barracuda. Last dive of the day is on ‘GPS GL’, be prepared to be blown away by literally millions of fish. Dolphins are seen here not only on the surface but also in the water! A special place kept secret by those who know its location!
Day 4: Gili Lawa Laut & Komodo. Before breakfast the first dive is on Krystal Bommy. This site offers amazing soft coral, sharks, turtles, a kaleidoscope of reef fish and pelagics. Dive two is on the world famous Batu Bolong. You drop down a split in the pinnacle and come out at 30 metres, all types of life exist here which is brought in by the strong currents around this site. The Komodo dragon tour will take place in the afternoon. These magnificent creatures are indigenous only to Komodo so take your camera! Night dive at the legendary Pink Beach. The 50 metre wall will keep you enchanted for hours!
Day 5: Diving Batu 3, for the more experienced diver, a turbo charged drift dive. Cutting back behind a wall to examine the grouper, snapper, sweetlips and much more. Middle 17 island follows, amazing rock formations home to octopus, batfish, unique flatworms, napolean wrasse and starfish. After a walk on the beach take to “The Cauldron”, hang on in a current at 8 metres with Manta circling above. Huge schools of trevally, snapper, fusilier and sweet lips overpopulate the trench in this adrenaline packed dive!
Day 6: Tatawa Islands Experience the diversity Tatawa Kecil and Tatawa Besar.Sweetlips, snapper, napoleon wrasse, manta and swim throughs make this a breathtaking topography dive. After lunch snorkel or drift dive Manta GPS, a manta ray cleaning station aka “The Airstrip”.
Day 7: Dive Castle Rock at sunrise, sharks, tuna and swirling vortex of fusiliers hunted by 30-50 giant trevally! This dive must not be missed before heading reluctantly west. Batu Monco is dive two aka “Komodo Express”. Play around on this exhilarating drift dive. Your last dive in Komodo National Park is the famous GPS Point. Any book will tell you about this site’s beauty and abundance of marine life. At 3 pm we set sail for Gili Trawangan. Enjoying sunset whilst discussing the weeks diving on the top deck.
Day 8: A day relaxing aboard Ikan Biru arriving Gili Trawangan at approximately 6pm. |
