KRAKATAU HISTORY - DOOMS DAY 1883

On Sunday August 27th 1883 at 10.05 .The Sound of Krakatau explosion in 1883. It’s heard in Srilangka, India, Karachi, Australia ( Perth ), Madagascar Island, and reach 3000 miles a way to the Indian Ocean Krakatau Tossed 18-20 cubic kilometer Material of earth 30 Km high in to the atmosphere ,the heavy material Back to the earth but the soft material and particles gas and ash rise up to the atmosphere and covering the atmosphere caused radiation of the sun back to the space. The Volcanic gas and ash was circling and traveling around the globe 7 times for 4 days
- Caused Blood Red color , Orange and Fantastic colored sun set, Blue Moon can be seen for 4 – 5 years (1883 – 1888).- Caused Disturbances of radio communication all round the globe for 3 day.

The Giant Tsunami about 30 - 40 Meter High and the speed reach about 180 km/h. It was destroyer more than 270 villages around java and Sumatra and more than 36.000 people die by tsunami and most the kids was killed by the Volcanic Gas. On Sunday August 27th 1883 at 10.05 am the sky was changed suddenly dark and the lighting blasted, rained by black sand, ash and dust. in the distance could be seen the thousands of flame rock flied tossed to the atmosphere from Krakatau , the local peoples said that was Dooms day “ KIAMAT” .the big stone as big as car was land on carita beach, and many prisoners was killed by blasted lighting at Tanjung Layar Light house (Ujung kulon) and the light house was destroy as well. it was reported later.

Forty years after the main explosion, in 1927, volcanic activity was seen in the sea covering the old caldera, between the sites of the two northern most former volcanoes of Krakatau, where the greatest activity had occurred at the time of the cataclysm. A series of eruptions 185 m below the surface of the sea resulted in the emergence of tree new island, one after the other. They were all soon destroyed by surf. A fourth emerged from the sea on August 12th 1930. It remained above water, and was aptly named Anak Krakatau (Child of Krakatau).

It grew by the accumulation of ash, and suffered a devastating eruption in 1952, and another very destructive one in 1972. It is now 195 m high and 2 km in diameter, and is still active. The northeast coast, north foreland and east foreland are now vegetated; the succession of vegetation is still at an early stage, Casuarina equisetifolia ((Cemara ) being the dominant tree.

I live in Jakarta and plan to make a Krakatau tour with some friends over the weekend 13th - 15th June (Friday morning till Sunday evening). I found out your company offers such tours. It seems to be quite interesting but unfortunately you have no price details on your site.

What I expect from the tour is something like that:

Day 01
Pick up service and transfer to Labuan for sailing to Sertung Island, across the Krakatau Volcano. Swim and snorkel. Overnight in tents at Sertung Island. (leaving Jakarta 6am)

Day 02
Witness the Krakatau Volcano from close. If possible we land and hike up to the crater. After lunch return to Labuan and transfer to Jakarta.

Details Tour Itinerary:
Day 1
Start at 07 / 08.00 am From Jakarta to Carita Beach.( After breakfast )
Sailing Cross Sunda Strait the journey will take us 1 hours, on the way we could see flying fish, group of small tuna, dolphins and other nice view, depend on the weather. (Carita – Krakatau Volcano by fast boat cruising Sunda Strait takes about 1 hour - 1,5 hours.) Sail around the volcano ( Anak Krakatau ) here we can see kind and stem of larva and Explosion. Landing and Climbing up to the first level of anak krakatau. depend on condition. Swimming.. At 15.30 Make camping at Big Krakatau/ Rakata Island and free activities. at 17.00 Sunset Cruising and get closer to see night activities of Krakatau Volcano Back to the camp for Dinner and fire wood. Free time ( L, D )

Day 2
Break fast and see the scene of krakatau volcano from here must be nice
Swimming / skin dive and Snorkeling at Legon Cabe ( at the big krakatau ) coral reef . Land on the beach
Take a rest and lunch time, after swimming and snorkeling .. free activities
sail back to Carita After Lunch, Carita to Jakarta on the way to Jakarta we may stop over at Anyer light House to see the Ruin of old light house which distroyed by Krakatau Tsunami.

End of trip

The Package includes :
Transfer in/out/ from/to jakarta airport/hotel, Fast Boat , guide , entry permit , self insurance, meals (lunch box), fruits, mineral water, soft drink, snack and snorkeling equipment and Tent equipment.

The trip schedule is very much dependent on weather conditions and may make changes accordingly.
Please bring camera, shoes, sun block / lotion, swim suit.

NOTE: If you interest to go to krakatau / tour to krakatau please only use the good boat
Or double engine Boat cause if one engine has trouble we still have other engine safe.

It is not yet fix how many person want to join. But I would guess around 5-6 persons or even more. Can you please make a proposal for such a tour. I think the best idea is you make a kind of listing of prices for each person, depending on the number of persons joining in total.
