Cross Borneo Border - Jungle Expeditions
Cross Borneo is an extreme jungle expedition in the tropical
rainforest of Borneo. This expedition is a jungle trekking that
follows a historical expedition route of a Dutch botanist, DR. Anton
W. Niewenhius in 1894 who crossed the jungle border of West and East
Kalimantan (Borneo). This tour asks your spirit and brave to attack
rapids with a traditional wooden boat, attack steep mountains. This
also offers you to be a witness of Punan (Hunter and gatherer tribe
of Dayak) and the unique of two famous river in Indonesia.
*...Kapuas river, the longest river in Indonesia and Mahakam river,
the biggest river in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Itinerary
Day 1: Pontianak Airport - Hotel
Fly into Pontianak with JT 688 B737-400 1h30m Jakarta (CGK) ETD
11:10 to Pontianak (PNK) ETA 12:40, pick up and transfer to
Pontianak hotel. Free at your own leisure or you may explore
Pontianak city. It is located almost precisely on the equator; hence
it is widely known as Kota Khatulistiwa (Equator City). Preparing
for the following day on cross Borneo program
Day 2: Pontianak - Putussibau
Leave Pontianak hotel accompanied by our guide by 12pm
and by public land transport to Putussibau via Sintang, depart
Pontianak bus station at 13.00 and arrived puttusibau at 09.00 next morning on
Day 3rd. Check in at simple non star accommodation.
Day 3: Putussibau
Arrival from Pontianak, resting and free at your own leisure or
explore Putussibau town.
Day 4: Putussibau – Nanga Bungan
The trip starts from a boat station by traditional wooden longboat
to reach Na. Bungan village. Along the way you will notice some
longhouses, local fruit garden, rice field and rapids. Get your
lunch on a sandy-rocky beach. In the Afternoon you will arrive in
Na. Bungan village. Overnight at the local house. . Note; depending
on water level and diffulcities but mostly we overnight at river
side camping.
Day 5: Nanga Bungan Village – Tanjung Lokang
Again in the traditional wooden longboat you will attack some big
rapids and sometime pulling your boat to get Tanjung Lokang the last
village. Check into the local lodge.
Day 6: Tanjung Lokang Village – Data Opet
From the village, the traditional wooden longboat will take you to
the Jungle by following a shallow river and pass some rapids. In the
jungle your local guide will construct your simple jungle camp.
Day 7: Data Opet - Borakan
After breakfast, the trekking start by following a path, some time
you have to cross the river. Lunch will be cooked and served on the
way near the river.
Day 8: Borakan - Lea River Mouth
Trekking here is never boring, there is always new development,
estimating distance, location, progress the road to follow. On the
trekking, the guide might introduce you to the skills of Dayak
fishing and fire lighting sodden wood. The meals to be prepared, the
night site to decide on (B,L,D).
Day 9: Lea River Mouth – Savang River
The trekking to be continue, while trekking you can feel the
genuineness of Borneo’s rain forest, enjoy the clear water, and
listen to the wild animal’s calls. Jungle camp will be constructed
again (Full boards)
Day 10: Savang River – Muller Valley
The trekking seemed to be heavier than before combination between
dry and wet trekking.
Day 11: Muller Valley - OPan Tanah
To day is heaviest hiking, attack the steep and slippery mountain of
Muller to reach the border between West and East Kalimantan. This
point is unique as all people who pass this area should leave their
belonging to avoid attack of bad spirit. After lunch, the trekking
continues to reach a point for jungle camp constructing.
Day 12: OPan Tanah – Batu Bahat
The journey will be continued through the tropical rain forest, a
dip in the river, a rest to be taken and surrounding to be examined
an investigation of just a few square metres will reveal something
different of animals every time.
Day 13: Batu Bahat - Muara Huvung
Today is the last trekking activity, after hour and hour you will
reach Huvung River mouth. Here you wait your local longboat to take
you to the village. As the longboat is delivered from the village,
you have to wait and construct your jungle camp again.
Day 14: Muara Huvung - Tiong Ohang
Now time to head down the Mahakam river by traditional wooden
longboat to find the village of Dayak Aoheng. Check in to the local
house.
Day 15: Tiong Ohang - Long Bangun
Breakfast at the local house/ local inn, then another 8 - 10 hours
sail by longboat to Long Bagun. Check in to local Inn. Free program.
Day 16-17: Long Bangun - Samarinda
After breakfast, leave the village of Long Bagun by houseboat. Lunch
and dinner provided at the houseboat. During the sailing trip, you
can explore and learn the local way of live ' river side
civilization' which is much different from what we normally have in
the dry land area. The rest of the day is free for your own
activities. Arrived on day 16 by 1pm in Samarinda, check in an
resting.
Day 18: Samarinda - Balikpapan (2hrs by car) - FLy out to Jakarta or
Singapore by Silk Air (please check the flight schedule Balikpapan
to Singapore at http://www.silkair.com/mbe/en_UK/index.jsp)
Breakfast at hotel then in the appropriate time, drive to Balikpapan
airport for catch your flight to the next destination.

Water proof backpack (trekking), Sunglasses, Socks, Enough clothes
to wear, Note book, pen, Pocket knife, Flexible mattress to use in
the long journey boating and tent, Bathing suit (bathing on the
river), Raincoat, Towel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush & paste, Trekking
shoes/hiking boot, Sport sandals for rafting, Autan lotion (insect
repellent ), sunscreen, Medical kit, malaria medicine, Dry bags,
plastic bags to cover your stuffs from water, Tape recorder for
recording the sounds of wild life, Camera or handy camera, extra
films & battery, charger, short and long lens, Extra snacks (for
extra energy), fruits, bottle of water, bubble gum, candy,
chocolates, Etc
Notifications:
- You will get wet on the boat. Please protect your baggage.
- There is no bathroom is in the Jungle. For women, it is
recommended to bring sarong(traditional bath wear for women) to bath
in the river.
- There is no electricity.
- This tour depend on the weather. If needed, the tour will possibly
be edited.
- Price doesn't include flight ticket. We could assist you to
